Hi Adrian,
Yes, you can easily upgrade to the new Fluid Galleries. The new Fluid Galleries is a platform unto itself (it does not require your hosting), so we have to manually migrate your current FG2 website over to the new system. The good news is that this migration process is done by us free of charge! Here is how you can get started:
Free FG2 Migration
We're offering free migration services to all FG2 customers who would like to move their current FG2 website contents over to the new HTML Fluid Galleries platform.
The migration includes moving all aspects of your FG2 website, including galleries and image arrangements, and text pages (does not include photo descriptions).
Although there may be small layout differences between your current FG2 website and the new themes (mostly improvements) your brand and look & feel will be maintained as well.
Getting Started
That's it!
Additional Details
Domain Names :
We'll also have to make a small change to your domain DNS, so that you can use your own domain with your new Fluid Galleries portfolio website. We have instructions on how to make this change, or you can send your domain control panel login (username/password) to us, and we'll be happy to make that change for you.
Email :
If you plan on leaving your hosting company entirely and you need to replace your email provider, we'll setup you up with your own free email service through google apps. Google apps allows you to create up to 10 email addresses, all using your own domain - eg ***@yourdomain.com. You can signup for google apps here : http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html
I think that's everything Adrian. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers,
Erik

Hi Erik , thanks for the info , I am about to the upgrade but have a few
questions.
Sorry if they seem obvious to you : |
Can I still have my domain name as adrianheke.com?
I take it once I upgrade I can cancel my hosting company here in New Zealand
, and you will take care of that part?
Do I have an allowence on how much I can upload on the site?
My FTP information is something like this: adrianheke.com
pass: 7J7wHHJn
My pass to log into my site is
heke
pass: alice1
Is this enough info for you for the migration?
Thats about it until I here back from you I guess , many thanks.
Regards
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
Let me answer your questions inline:
Yes absolutely. Getting your domain connected to and html Fluid Galleries site is straight foward. You can view the instructions at the url below, or we're glad to connect your domain for you.
http://help.fluidgalleries.co/kb/using-fluid-galleries/host-mapping...
It depends. If you are only using your hosting company to host a website, and you are going to replace that website with your new Fluid Galleries site, then yes, it would make sense to cancel your hosting.
There are no page or image limits whatsoever.
Likely yes. You'll need to signup for a monthly or annual account before we can begin the migration process.
Once you signup, send me a quick message, and I'll get your site migrated. Have a great evening Adrian.
Cheers,
Erik

Hey Adrian,
Unfortunately, this email contains the same information that you sent to us previously. You might want to give your hosting company a quick call and ask for the ftp information directly :

Hi Erik , maybe you could advise me on some basics on how to redesign my
existing images.
It would be great if you had an online tutorial to run you through the
process , as this setup seems quite different than the older version which I
purchased from you afew years ago.
If you could run through the process of adding text to the front page and
adding my logo , then I could use this as a template for the rest of my
images.
I have my logo setup in design but cannot work out how to transfer that to
my home page.
My site adrianheke.com is now down , should this be the case since you are
now hosting?
Many thanks and look forward to hearing from you.
I may try to phone you , where are you located as I may need to get up early
to catch you at work.
Regards
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
Yes I agree. Getting tutorials and a complete knowledge base area ready are a priority that we are currently working on.
Why don't we schedule a quick phone call so we can assist you through some of these issues. In the mean time, here are some tips:
Adding your logo
After you login to Fluid Galleries, go to the Design > Customize panel and scroll down to the label Logo. You can upload your logo here, and watch the preview window update.
Adding text to an image
Login to Fluid Galleries, and choose a portfolio page from the left side column, and then click the "Edit mode" button in the right section of the screen. When you change into edit mode, you'll be able to add titles and descriptions to all of your portfolio images.
No, your fluid galleries site will not affect your hosting account, unless you have redirected your domain name to point at your new Fluid Galleries site (I don't believe we have done this process with you). You may want to quickly call your hosting company to see what the issue is.
That brings me to my second point : If you would like to have your own domain (adrianheke.com) pointed towards your new fluid galleries website, please send us your domain control panel username and password, and we would be happy to make the change for you. Here is a quick article that summarizes how we will get your domain connected to fluid galleries :

Have a great day Adrian!
